ABOUT ME

Hi! I'm Abby. And historical costumes are my jam.

I started sewing when I was eight years old. My first sewing project was culottes, which I consequently loved,  despite the fact that they were NOT cool at the time. My first historical sewing project was made when I was twelve years old, and it was a blue polyester taffeta monstrosity that was meant to look like American Girl Felicity's dress. And I loved it as well.

My costume-sewing hobby influenced the decision to pursue a degree in Fashion Design, and in 2011 I graduated with a B.A. in that field from Savannah College of Art and Design. So, clothing in general is kind of my jam. But historical clothing is my favourite! It is a way to try to understand history by living it; by stitching it, putting it on your body, and walking around in it.

Welcome to the my sewing adventures! I hope you gain some inspiration or education from this pursuit of history.
